PraxisIFM Promotes Four

| General News

PraxisIFM has created two new group and two new director positions in the Channel Islands as part of its recent expansion and plans for further growth. The independent financial services company listed on The International Stock Exchange in April 2017 and doubled its head count over the past 18 months through a mixture of strategic acquisitions and organic growth.

In Jersey, Siobhan McGrath and Dan Toft have been promoted to directors at PraxisIFM Trust Jersey, where they have joined the board. Mrs McGrath leads a private client team looking after a variety of trust and corporate structures and focuses on building and maintaining relationships with high net worth clients and intermediaries. A Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants and AAT-qualified, Mrs McGrath’s promotion will see her contribute to new business development alongside Mr Toft.

While his main role at PraxisIFM has also been to manage a team of administrators, Mr Toft has recently been developing opportunities in the Middle East where PraxisIFM opened the first licensed and regulated trust company in Abu Dhabi in 2016. He has been providing technical support and oversight to the new team in Abu Dhabi and developing new business opportunities. Mr Toft holds the ICSA Certificate and STEP Diploma.

The two Group-level promotions are Sharon Coburn, who is the new group head of human resources, based in Guernsey, while Jersey-based Richard Morris is new group financial reporting manager.

Dr Morris joined in May 2016 and is now responsible for collating, analysing and reporting the group’s financial results to the market. He is also involved in the company’s acquisition activity, looking after financial due diligence. He has held previous roles as finance director for a technology start up and as an auditor, and is ACA-qualified. Prior to this he was a lecturer and researcher in engineering and has a PhD in biomechanics.

Mrs Coburn joined Praxis in 2003, pre-merger with IFM, as assistant manager, tasked with setting up the HR function for what was then Praxis’ only office.

Additional responsibilities and promotions followed and she now has day to day management of the HR function across the group, including the setting of strategic direction across all 14 offices and adherence to employment legislation and policies. She is a Fellow of the CIPD and a Chartered Manager (Chartered Management Institute).

‘With recent strategic acquisitions taking our headcount to 425 and potential for further expansion through organic and acquired business it’s a busy and exciting time for the group,’ said Dr Simon Thornton, group CEO at PraxisIFM. ‘Dan, Siobhan, Sharon and Richard’s roles have all expanded recently and their promotion recognises their individual contributions.’
