Give us an overview of your career path so far
I was educated in Guernsey prior to successfully graduating with an Honours degree from Exeter University in 2009. I returned to the island upon completion of my studies and joined Credit Suisse Trust as a trust administrator taking responsibility for a diverse portfolio of trust and company structures and specialising in the Far East and real estate/private equity structures. During my time at Credit Suisse Trust Limited, I studied for the STEP diploma and qualified as a full member of STEP in 2011. In 2015 I joined PraxisIFM as a Trust Manager, taking responsibility for the management of administration teams dealing with a wide range of complex structures. During this time I successfully completed an Institute of Leadership and Management course. I relocated to London in late 2017 to head up the group’s UK private client offering where I hold the position of Managing Director and am responsible for business development.
What is the biggest challenge you've overcome in your career at PraxisIFM?
I would say there have been two but both very much linked in with each other. The first has certainly been relocating to a new office in a different jurisdiction and setting this up from the beginning. However, its been a wonderful challenge learning how to run a successful business operation and creating this rather than purely focusing on servicing clients, albeit this is still of the utmost priority and very much ties in to the business model one adopts.
The second biggest challenge has been taking on a business development role within the group which is not something I had previously had the opportunity to focus on. I’ve thrived off this challenge as it has enabled me to talk about all of the positive developments within the Group, particularly the recent acquisitions that the Group has completed on as well as being able to meet a wide variety of intermediaries and clients, all of whom I have learnt a great deal from.
What do you enjoy most about working at PraxisIFM?
There are so many reasons why I feel fortunate to work for a majority management owned company such as PraxisIFM but I think I glean the most enjoyment from the people I work with. The teams in all of our jurisdictions are highly motivated, innovative and supportive and working with peers who not only encourage you in your progression but equally help you strive to be the best you can be in your role is truly invaluable.
How do you like to spend your spare time?
As I’m fairly new to London life I generally spend my weekends exploring new hotspots around the city. I am also an avid runner and living in Richmond means that I have the luxury of being able to run around Richmond park where I regularly come across local wildlife including white deer! On rare occasions that I am at home, I love getting stuck into a good book and am part of a book club so never short of an interesting read.Learn more about Donna
