After gaining experience with international accountancy firms and trust companies in Guernsey, the corporate services operation of a leading Cayman Islands law firm and an international fiduciary services group in Hong Kong, David co-founded a private trust group in which a controlling interest was sold to a merchant bank in 1990.
David joined PraxisIFM in 1994 and for many years was responsible for the Group’s business development function, while simultaneously overseeing a large and diverse portfolio of client structures.
In more recent years David has reduced his business development activity to focus more heavily on running client structures following some major Group acquisitions.
A Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators and a member of STEP, David has more than 35 years’ experience of managing structures for private and corporate clients across many different jurisdictions.
These include complex multi-entity structures covering many different asset classes, with a particular emphasis on real estate vehicles and structures for foreign-domiciled UK investors, as well as structuring for private clients with a tax connection to the US.
He also has experience of sitting on boards of fund structures, and of administering carried interest structures for fund structures. He has sat on the boards of the various regulated companies of the Guernsey fiduciary business for more than 30 years.
David was named as one of the most influential private client professionals for 2019 in the ’50 Most Influential’ by eprivateclient.
